![]() ![]() I change the batteries about twice a year. UPDATE - This is still going strong 9 years later. I do understand that in many applications, an AC adapter for the remote unit would be impractical, but it would work in my case. As it is, there is the capability for an adapter for the base unit, though it is not included and there is no such capability for the remote unit. The improvements that I would like to see is that an AC adapter be included for the base unit and that the remote unit be capable of adding an AC adapter. In the 17 months I've been using it, I've changed the batteries in the remote unit only twice and in the base unit just once. I have the remote positioned such that it alarms the instant the door is opened, and it is across the shed and up, which means if someone wanted to disable it, there would be plenty of "alarm" time to respond. The base comes with two volume settings and I use it on the loudest setting so that it can be heard throughout the house. The distance from the remote unit in the shed and the base unit in the house is approximately 50 feet. Because it is in a shed the remote unit is not subject to moisture.Ģ. At various times of the year the interior of the shed gets very hot (has been as hot as 102 degrees F in the summer and as cold as 8 degrees F in the winter. I need to state a couple of facts about my usage:ġ. I have owned and used one of these for about 17 months.
